Google Voice Search Vs. Siri: Who’s the Best iPhone Assistant?

With Google’s release of its brand new search app for iOS, we decided to put Siri in the ring with Voice Search—now available on your iPhone—to see if she could defend her own turf.
I would agree that Google’s Voice Search has raised the bar for what Siri needs to strive for. It will be interesting what Apple tries to do in order to compete because Siri is at a disadvantage.
Google’s voice search automatically sends all request in to the google search engine and gets results. I would bet that they have also enabled instant search so that the engine can start to filter down the results before the user has finished their question.
Siri processes the context and decides what service should be used. Siri then shoots the request to the service. The service returns the result to Siri. Then Siri returns the result to the user. I would also bet that if Siri doesn’t like the answer it gets from the primary service it might hit up a secondary backup service before it errors out and prompts the user to search the web.
It seems as though Siri is inherently at a disadvantage. I guess it pays to be Google, built everything yourself, and compete with everyone.
